A GRASSROOTS PUBLICATION AND COMMUNITY

We are a grassroots print publication and community centered around place-based storytelling.

Our ethos is grounded in decolonization narratives and joyful acts of community care. Each issue of Sage features a conversation with 10 different voices from outdoor, activist, and creative spaces. Their words weave together themes of ecological relationships, creative expression, identity, and connection.

We believe taking care of Earth and our communities begins by examining the root; the paradigms and perspectives we hold.
We believe we are intrinsically and inherently part of, not seperate or above, our ecosystem and the stories of Sage demonstrate that.

BEGINNING IN 2018

Our Roots

Through her love for ecological storytelling and hands-on creative work, Bella Brodsky began creating a small-scale Zine that centered the stories of local community members; farmers, small business owners, creatives, makers, and activists. What started as a creative project in a small New England town organically grew into an independent bi-annual publication sold in nearly 40 bookstores.

Our Lens

Through meaningful conversations and intentional storytelling, we aim to open up discussions on how we connect to place; land, community, waterways, and ecosystems.
